Growth differentiation factor-7

Pure growth differentiation factor-7 (GDF-7) and functional fragments are claimed. Also claimed are (1) an isolated polynucleotide (PN) (isolated from a mammalian cell, pref. mouse, rat, or human cell) encoding GDF-7;(2) an expression vector including the PN; (3) a host cell stably transformed with the vector; (4) antibodies reactive with GDF-7 or fragments; and (5) a method of treating a cell proliferative disorder associated with GDF-7 expression by contacting the cells with a reagent which suppresses the GDF-7 activity.
