A lamp socket for a light bulb or the like consisting of a holder with co-acting screwed sleeve for receiving the base of the light bulb in addition to a carrier arranged in the holder and having electrical contacts for the power supply, wherein the holder is provided with a central aperture for fastening thereof to a screwed tube, wherein an adapter is arranged for insertion into the tube, which adapter is provided with a passage for a single or multi-core cable and a conductor which is associated with each electrical core and in contact therewith and which is in contact with the power supply contact of the carrier, whereby mounting of a lamp socket onto a screwed tube or the like is considerably simplified.
