The invention relates to a tower-like extension which is to built, in particular, onto old multi-storey buildings and is intended for receiving bathrooms, kitchens or other corresponding rooms. The extension comprises a support system which is formed by supports (4, 4' and 14, 14') mounted one above the other, load-bearing members (9) which link the support system in the horizontal direction, wall elements (1, 2) and load-bearing panels (5). The load-bearing members (9) are fixed constituent parts of the load-bearing panel (5), and fitted on the load-bearing members (9) are fastening elements (11) for fastening the load-bearing panel (5) on the supports (4, 4' and 14, 14'). As a whole, the load-bearing panels serve as structural parts which connect the supports of the extension in the horizontal direction. The supports (4 and 14) are also preferably designed as fixed constituent parts of the wall element (1). The wall element (1, 2) comprises two supports (4, 14), one at each end of the wall element (1, 2) which are connected rigidly to one another with the aid of steel-profile parts. The supports (4, 14) and the abovementioned steel-profile parts form a rigid, functional unit. The invention furthermore relates to the process for producing the tower-like extension. <IMAGE>
