The invention relates to a method for controlling a process which can assume different power levels, has a different dynamic behaviour at these power levels, and which forms the control path (1) of a control loop with a state controller (2). In order to achieve optimum adaptation of the state controller (2), it is proposed to adapt control parameters (ri), that is to say the components of the control vector (r), as a function of the respective power level and in a different manner for each parameter (ri).
