PURPOSE:To make constitution simple, to eliminate the need for an oil seal and to prevent the generation of metallic powder, air bubbles, etc., in a matching agent tank by attracting and moving a moving side optical fiber following the movement of a magnetic head part and opposedly connecting the moving side optical fiber to a prescribed stationary side optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:This optical switch has the magnetic head part (outer slider) 5 for attracting and moving an inner slider 4 and a pulse motor 6 and ball screw 7 for sliding the outer slider 5 to a proper desired position along the moving direction of the moving side optical fiber 3 on the outside of the matching agent tank 2. The outer slider 5 is screwed to the ball screw 7 within a housing 9 provided outside the matching agent tank 2. An electromagnet (or permanent magnet or combination thereof) 10 is mounted as a magnetic force impressing means for generating a magnetic field for driving the inner slider 4 atop the outer slider 5. The inner slider 4 is attracted and moved from outside the matching agent tank 2 by the magnetic attraction force of the electromagnet 10. |
