PURPOSE:To obtain a peak filter capable of reducing the number of comparators and reducing the amount of hardware by outputting a peak signal when the image value of a center image element is equal to a maximum image value. CONSTITUTION:An image memory 11 stores an image consisting of MXN picture elements. In a peak filter 21, a maximum value detecting filter 31 is provided with a row maximum value detecting part 41 for detecting the maximum value of n horizontal picture elements, (m-1) shift registers 42a to 42d for storing the maximum value of n horizontal picture elements, and a column maximum value detecting filter 43 and constituted so as to output the maximum value of mXn picture elements (m<M, n<N). A center image value output part 32 is provided with shift registers 32a, 32b for respectively storing the image values of N picture elements and storage parts 32c, 32d for storing the image values of two picture elements and constituted so as to output the picture value B of a center picture element out of mXn picture elements. A matching judging circuit (comparator) 33 outputs a peak detection signal PDS when the maximum value A of m row maximum values is equal to the picture value B of the center picture element. |
