PURPOSE:To provide the distributed filing system which improves the cache hit rate of a client and accelerates file access. CONSTITUTION:A file server 200 is provided with an access frequency data base 250 for recording the name of a user and the name of a file, to which that user frequently performs access, while making those names correspondent each other. A client 100 is provided with a log-in user table 130 for recording the user name under log-in and a cache priority control module 142. Based on the contents in the access frequency data base 250 and the log-in user table 130, the cache priority control module 142 sets priority to the copies of respective files inside a cache area 170. Therefore, by preferentially caching the file with the high frequency of use for each user to log-in the client, the hit rate of cache is improved, and file access can be accelerated.
