Method of inscribing plastic parts of laboratory equipment for their use

A description is given of a method of inscribing plastic parts of laboratory equipment for their use, in particular metering equipment, dispensers, microlitre hand-held pipettes, piston pipettes and bottle-mounted dispensers, polyolefins such as polypropylene and polyethylene being used in particular as the plastics. To be able to apply the inscription or scaling to the plastic parts in a simple and reliable way, such that the finished inscription is resistant to chemical, thermal and mechanical stresses, it is proposed to admix with the plastic during its preparation and/or during its further processing pigments and mineral substances as additives, reacting with the respective plastic in such a way that when the latter is subjected to laser light they bring about a high-contrast colour change at the points subjected to the said laser light, and to use conventional lasers subsequently to inscribe the corresponding plastic parts of the laboratory equipment.
