Device for the automatic inspection of pipes

The pipe inspection device is an automatically working, freely programmable, mobile implement carrier (34) for inspecting pipelines (28) on the outside and inside of any type from 200 mm diameter as well as pipelines of oval cross-section. It can be equipped with various attachments for separating, joining, coating, etc. The implement carrier (34) essentially consists of an articulated frame (1, 4), provided with steerable and track-compensating, individually driven rollers (7, 7a), and a tightening strap (14) equipped with distance rollers (15) and is connected to a programmable control. The mounting on the pipe (28) can be effected without a tool. Alignment is not necessary. The orbit of the pipe is a maximum of 360 DEG and is effected at right angles or obliquely to the pipe axis (35). The axial feed per orbit can be set during operation. The entire axial displacement distance is limited only by obstacles at the pipe. <IMAGE>
