The invention concerns a frame (Fig. 3) that can be fastened on the bed and whose length can be telescopically increased, and which can maintain its starting width and starting height at any length. It is predominantly used in the medical field as a base for protection of patient against pressure, hypothermia, dehydration or retained moisture. Handling is considerably simplified and lateral slipping-off of the frame which would endanger the patient lying under it is ruled out. The frame, which can be stored in a space-saving manner, can remain fastened on the bed for a lengthy period of time without any great restrictions and even in the retracted state. <IMAGE>
