A McPherson shock absorbing leg axle, in particular for a driven front axle of a vehicle, is provided with a damper cylinder, a damper piston rod, a helical spring which is clamped between an upper and a lower spring plate, a steering knuckle, a transverse link which is connected to a steering knuckle via a joint and a track rod which is connected to the steering knuckle. A steering axle housing is connected by flanges onto the damper cylinder to the side in the direction of the wheel, in the interior of which steering axle housing the upper end of the steering knuckle is mounted with a bearing bolt in such a way that the steering axle is formed between the bearing bolt and the joint between the steering knuckle and the transverse link. A device is provided for preventing a rotary movement of the damper cylinder.
