A central suction device in which a number of suction points are connected via a closable suction line to a central suction pipe of a central suction installation, whose drive motor is controlled by an electronic control part by means of speed (revs) control depending on load and speed variable. A switching device is provided for temporary bypassing of the speed (revs) control (7a) of the electronic control part (7) in order to enable the drive motor (M) of the suction installation (5) to be driven at increased rated speed (revs).
