The hydraulic shock absorber (101) which works in tension is connected to a support (11) fixed to the bodywork by a pivoting strap (142). The body of the hydraulic absorber is connected to the steering column clamping rod. A tie rod (95) is wrapped around a transverse support (96) which is mounted on the tubular body (10). The tie rod has one part connected to the piston rod (141) of the actuator (101). The second returning part of the tie rod is wound round a transverse support (96). This returning part unwinds from the support at the time of a shock under a determined energy absorbing force.
