The machine has a horizontal distribution drum (3) with spreading tools (12). The apron (18) extends in the travel direction, and is swung by an arm (16) between working positions at opposite sides of the drum, or into a rest position above it. The arm hinge axis can extend in the travel direction. Seen in this direction, the arm can be after the drum and roughly level with its apex line, while a bar (17) is fixed to its free end. The rectangular apron extends over the cross-section of the drum and is suspended from the bar, on which it swings freely.
