LEAK POINT DETECTING METHOD FOR GAS FILLED CABLE |

<p>PURPOSE:To allow easy, quick and accurate detection of leak point even for an untrained techinician by adding a different odorant previously to a gas in a gas filled cable and identifying the odorant in leaked gas using an odor sensor. CONSTITUTION:A crystal oscillator odor sensor is employed for identifying the odor and deciding the quality thereof. An air suction unit 7 sucks the air to be measured, at first, at a rate of 1000cc/min through a sensor head 6 having the crystal oscillator odor sensor. A frequency counter 8 then reads out the fluctuation in frequency caused by the odorant adhered to a polymer material applied to the crystal oscillator. The fluctuation in frequency is then processed by a computor 9 and compared with prestored adhesion characteristics of each odorant thus identifying the odorant. This method allows easy, quick and accurate detection of leak point even for an untrained techinician.</p> |
