<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method for combining scanning pieces obtained by decoding a bar code symbol consisting of divided plural bar code elements expressing an arrayed data character string. CONSTITUTION: This method scans a symbol along a first scarming path including a delimiter to obtain a first character string, scans the symbol along a second scanning path including another delimiter to obtain a second character string, compares the lengths of the first and second strings of data characters with a prescribed length and combines the first and second strings based on the comparison to generate arrayed data character string. Another version of this method loads the first and second strings in a stitch buffer and stores corresponding reliability namely redundant buffer as well so as to store expected reliability information of individual decoded character. Only when information stored in a reliability buffer passes a series of tests, the bar code symbol is judged to be decoded correctly.</p> |
