The forceps consist of two shanks (1, 2), rotatably mounted in a sleeve (5). They can be compressed to each other in a lever movement and have cutting edges. The shanks are movable by a tensile element, whose proximal end is connected to the sleeve. The shanks are mounted on a common axle bolt (3) which, together with the shanks, can be retracted into and extended from the sleeve over a preset path. On retracting, the shank outer faces (1a, 2a) are supported by the sleeve edges (5a, b) slidably up to their closure. During extension, the shanks are opened by a spreader (7) acting on their inner faces (1a, 2c).
