Ink marking appliance for e.g. screw head or nut

The housing (10) of the marking instrument is divided by a piston into two chambers (24, 26). One chamber (26) contains ink whilst the other (24) contains a prestressed spring (28) acting on the piston in its direction of travel. The ink chamber discharges ink through a release valve (16). The spring chamber is closed by a locking piece (30) containing an air vent (32). The two chambers and the outlet valve pref. have a common axis. The spring is pref. mounted on the locking piece and its prestress is adjustable. The appliance can be used manually, or in a machine tool e.g. for torque dependant marking of a screw head or nut.
