PURPOSE:To decide the peak position of spotlights by computing the correlation between reference data and the spotlights in order to accurately compute the peak of the spotlights even when some of the spotlights are omitted. CONSTITUTION:A light projecting section projects spotlights upon an object to be measured at prescribed timing under the control of a timing generating section 3. A light receiving section 2 receives reflected light from the object. A normalizing section 4 normalizes light receiving signals outputted from the receiving section 2 and a shape discriminating section 5 discriminates the shape of the normalized light receiving signals. When the shape of the spot lights is discriminated, a reference data selecting section 6 selects reference data and a peak position deciding section 7 decides the peak position on the light receiving section 2 based on the reference data. |
