Method of preparing `-hydroxyisobutylamide in liquid phase, containing the hydration of acetone cyanohydrin catalyzed by manganese dioxide to produce `-hydroxyisobutylamide in a continuous process, and an oxide selected from (1) to (4) in the reaction solution as its characteristic: (1) the formula as follows: M1sOt*aH2O (1) in which M1 represents an element with valence m, a is a positive number, integer s and t satisfied m*s=2*t, and M1 is selected from aluminum, silicon, germanium, antimony and niobium; (2) the formula as follows: HxM1yOz (2) in which M1 represents an element with valence m, integer x, y and z satisfied 2*z=m*y+x, and M1 is selected from boron, aluminum, silicon, germanium, tin, lead, arsenic, antimony, vanadium, niobium, molybdenum, and tungsten; (3) the formula as follows: HxM1sM2tOy (3) in which M1 represents an element with valence m, M2 represents an element with valence n, integer s, t, x and y satisfied 2*y=m*s+n*t+x, M1 is selected from silicon, germanium, phosphorus and arsenic, and M2 is selected from vanadium, molybdenum and tungsten; and (4) the salt selected from the alkali metal salt and alkali earth acid. |
