PURPOSE:To provide a position detecting device capable of simplifying the constitution and reducing the cost by using a route calculating function. CONSTITUTION:A navigation device is provided with a route calculating part 3 to calculate the optimum route to the destination, and the optimum route calculated by the route calculating part 3 is stored in a route memory 7. A position detecting device is provided with a distance sensor 1 to calculate the traveling distance of a vehicle, and the traveling distance calculated by this distance sensor 1 is given to a current position calculating part 2. In the current position calculating part 2, the vehicle position is calculated by adding the given traveling distance to the optimum route stored in the route memory 7 relative to the current position which is previously obtained, and this calculated vehicle position is obtained as the current position of the vehicle. |
