The invention concerns correction of the sound pattern in an audio system with several channels. By using the invention's method and arrangement, one corrects the fading and distortion of the sound pattern which is caused by a differing position from an assumed ideal position between the listener 4 and the loudspeaker 1, 2, 3 during production of the sound, by arranging an audio signal delay of at least one channel and in this way moving the corresponding loudspeaker 1, 2 nominally dc, dl to a new position point 1', 2' which corresponds as best as possible to an assumed reproduction situation in relation to the listener's 4 position and to the other loudspeakers' 3 actual position or a nominal position 1', 2' produced by means of the delay. The delay-inducing arrangement can be implemented in that the user can position an additional distance dc, dl corresponding to the delay directly in the longitudinal dimension, for example, in meters.
