PURPOSE:To stably produce a polyester fiber homogeneously mixed with an antimicrobial agent and having an extremely uniform antimicrobial performance in the length direction of the fiber without generating troubles such as the breakage of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A method for producing an antimicrobial polyester fiber comprises adding an antimicrobial agent represented by the below-mentioned formula and having an average particle diameter of <=2mum to the melted fluid of a liquid polyester having a viscosity of <=30 poises at 25 deg.C, a hydroxyl group value of <=10mgKOH/g and a melting point of -10 deg.C, kneading the mixture, extruding the kneaded product from a spinneret and subsequently taking off the extruded fiber containing the antimicrobial agent in an amount of 0.1-5wt.%. M<1>aAbM<2>c(PO4)d.nH2O (M<1> is at least one metal selected from silver, copper, zinc, tin and lead; A is at least one kind selected from alkali metal, alkaline eat-th metal and ammonium ion; M<2> is tetravalent metal; (n) is an integer of 0-6: both (a) and (b) are positive integers; pa+qb=1, (c) is 2; (d) is 3; (p) is the atomic value of M<1>, (q) is the atomic valency of A). |
