PURPOSE:To display the function of muddy-water treatment equipment installed into a tunnel in the same degree as the ground, to dispense with the place of mounting on the ground and to solve the problem of noises by decompressing the pressure of high-pressure muddy water to atmospheric pressure by a spiral type decompression device. CONSTITUTION:High-pressure muddy water (q) from a shielding cutter 2 is forwarded to a spiral type decompression device 7 by a sludge withdrawal pipe 5 and a muddy-water pump 9. High-pressure muddy water (q) is introduced into a circular type spiral casing for the spiral type decompression device 7 from an inlet nozzle connected in the tangential direction, decompressed to atmospheric pressure while forming a vortex, and sent out to a muddy- water treatment device 6 at the rear of the shielding cutter 2 in the axial direction from an outlet nozzle at the center of the spiral casing. The change in facing pressure and a flow rate due to the variation of the conditions of excavation are accomodated by the introduction of high-pressure water Q from an adjusting nozzle. Since the muddy-water treatment device 6 displays sufficient capacity even when ground installation type muddy-water treatment equipment is used because high-pressure muddy water is decompressed to atmospheric pressure and fed, soil and sand 13 separated from water may be discharged to a hopper 14 on the ground by a lift conveyor 12.
