Vehicle hydraulic ABS braking system

A brake system has a vacuum brake booster which works with an electromagnet, independently of the driver action. There is a sensor to detect the speed of the brake pedal motion, the output signal being proportional to the motion of the axially-moving wall within the booster, and an electronic unit derives the rate of change of this with time. The sensor is a linear potentiometer. The pneumatic valve through which the booster control valve is operated using the brake pedal can also be operated electronically, using a signal from the electronic unit. This unit allows a continuous calibration of the sensor.
