IC engine for model aircraft

The IC engine is of the four-stroke type. It has a camshaft (2) driven by timing gears (4,5) at half the crankshaft (1) speed. The camshaft also acts as the output shaft for the propeller (3), which is fastened to it. The camshaft may be driven by the crankshaft via one or more toothed gears, or via a toothed belt, roller chain, etc. At least one of the bearings for the camshaft is formed as an angular contact ball bearing.
