PURPOSE:To always properly perform the recovery operation of a recording head by providing a control means detecting and judging the state at the time of stop and selecting and controlling the proper recovery operation of the recording head corresponding to the state at the time of stop. CONSTITUTION:When a recovery button 826 is pushed or automatic recovery operation is started, a flag of recovery operation is turned ON. When the recovery operation due to a control means 800 is started, at first, a non-capping state is obtained by the movement of a capped head carriage. When the roll of a tube pump begins to rotate in a forward direction in order to initialize the position of the roll and the roll is rotated in a capping state, ink is sucked. In order to prevent this phenomenon, the non-capping state is set. When the initializing rotation of the tube pump in the forward direction is started and the roll passes a photosensor part, suction operation is judged to be started and a head is again capped and a suction flag is erected. |
