PURPOSE:To improve the holding operation efficiency and make the carrying of a reel convenient by preventing an increase in size of a reel body in installing a brake device capable of preventing a spool from overspeeding in releasing a fishing line in a double bearing type reel for fishing. CONSTITUTION:This apparatus for preventing the backlash of a reel for fishing is obtained by supporting a spool 4 having flanges 4' on both sides between side plates 2 and 3 of a reel body 1 so as to freely rotate in releasing a fishing line, housing and arranging a braking part of a brake device for preventing the spool 4 from overspeeding by utilizing an eddy current of a magnet 11 or a centrifugal force of brake shoes 17 in a braking means in a fishing line winding drum part 4'' of the spool 4 and thereby shortening the length in the axial direction of the spool shaft 5, miniaturizing and compacting the reel body in a double bearing type reel for fishing.
