The chassis of the bogie consists of two long side beams (2), which are connected together centrally by a cross beam (3), to give the chassis the appearance of an H-shape, when viewed from above. The cross beam has a box structure, with a lower wall (4), two side walls (5 & 6) and an upper wall (7). The cross section of the beam varies according to its position along the beam's longitudinal axis (8), which is orthogonal to the longitudinal axis (9) of the bogie. The upper (2C) and lower (2B) plates of the I-section of the side beams are formed by the continuation of the upper and lower walls of the ends of the cross beam. The distance between the side walls of the cross beam, measured vertically parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bogie, reduces towards the outer ends. As a result of this, the side walls are curved with the convex face facing outwards and the ends of the side walls are fixed to the internal face (2D) of the blade (2A) of the side beams.
