PURPOSE:To attain high speed reverse reproduction of video/audio information. CONSTITUTION:When high speed reverse reproduction is commanded at a block #975, the medium is skipped reversely up to a block #960 and data are read by 4 blocks consecutively from the block #960 and reproduced and displayed. After being skipped reversely by 24 blocks, data by 4 blocks are read continuously from the block #940, and reproduced and displayed. The similar processing is repeated and then the video image/audio high speed reverse reproduction at a high speed of a multiple of 5 (=20/4) is executed.
