In an inter-motion predicitve frame encoding mode, a motion estimation circuit 115 estimates motion between a preceding frame and a two frames preceding frame from data stored in a preceding frame memory 113 and a two frames preceding frame memory 114, and the data of the preceding frame corresponding to a motion estimated result is supplied as predictive data Dp to a subtracter 102 from a motion compensation circuit 116. The subtracter 102 calculates the difference value of a present frame and the predictive data, and a conversion circuit 103 generates quantized data from the difference value, and transmits it to a decoding side 200. At the decoding side 200 too, the predictive data is obtained from the data of the preceding frame and the two frames preceding frame independently of an encoding side 100, and reproduced image data is generated from the quantized data and the predictive data.</p> |
