The connector consists of a socket opening (8) in a socket housing (4) into which a short shaft (6) projecting from a male coupling (2) is pushed. The male coupling has at least two springy locking arms (20) which extend beyond the connecting end of the socket housing parallel to the fitting axis (12). Each locking arm has a locking lug (22) which projects radially inwards. The lug clips behind a projecting flange (24) on the socket housing to secure the connection. A release catch (30) attached to the male coupling is slid away in a direction (34) parallel to the fitting axis to part the locking arms and release the connection. <IMAGE>
