Solid-state laser with light emitting semiconductor devices

The laser has a lasing medium (2), a light-emitting S-C device (1), a reflecting surface (52) around the medium and an opening in the surface (52) to allow light to pass from device to medium. A reflecting body (50) covers the lasing medium. The reflecting surface is a multilayer film coating (metal plating) on the inside of the body. Transparent bonding (6) is provided between the lasing medium and the reflecting body. The body has a device for radiating heat. Several S-C devices (LEDs or lasing diodes) may be provided symmetrically w.r.t. the lasing medium. A polariser (26) and phase delay (27) may lie between s-c device and medium.
