PURPOSE: To operate an air conditioner by the refrigerating capacity of rated operation or less to confirm the capacity of the conditioner by so altering the number of the revolutions of a compressor as to obtain predetermined refrigerating capacity under specific conditions, and making the capacity variable. CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner 10, a frequency for driving a compressor 26 which is output from the inverter 90 of an outdoor unit 14 is variably set, thereby varying the number of the revolutions of the compressor 26, and hence cooling or heating capacity is regulated. That is, the conditioner 10 maintains the number of revolutions for obtaining predetermined refrigerating capacity in the state for maintaining predetermined environmental conditions for a predetermined time, and then the compressor 26 of an outdoor unit 14 is driven at the number of the revolutions for obtaining 12 of the capacity of the predetermined capacity in response to the operation of the operation changeover switch of the indoor unit. Thus, the conditioner 20 can be operated by 1/2 of the capacity at the time of rated operation to confirm the capacity of the conditioner 10. |
