PURPOSE: To provide a hair-treatment composition exhibiting excellent quick smoothing effect, luster improving effect, moistening effect, softening effect and springiness imparting effect on the hair without stimulating the scalp. CONSTITUTION: This hair-treatment composition is produced by compounding (A) anα-hydroxy acid or anα-hydroxy acid salt, e.g. glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, mandelic acid or their alkali metal salts with (B) an animal marrow extract, e.g. an extract prepared by extracting crushed backbone, hip bone or thigh bone of cattle with hot water or an organic solvent and (C) whey protein, i.e., concentrated whey protein obtained by spray- drying whey produced as a by-product of a cheese-production process. The amount of the component A is preferably 0.05-5.0wt.%, especially 0.2-3.0wt.% and the amounts of the components B and C are preferably 0.05-3.0wt.%, especially 0.2-3.0wt.%.
