<p>PURPOSE: To reduce a jag at the oblique part and the curved part of a character and a graphic, etc., even when the resolution of an input bit map image is lowered in accordance with the output resolution of an image output device. CONSTITUTION: Input bit map image data BM of resolution 600dpi is converted into multilevel image data MI of resolution 600dpi by a binary multivalue conversion part 120. The multilevel image data MI is converted into multilevel image data MR of resolution 400dpi by a resolution conversion part 130. An edge direction detecting flag EF can be obtained by detecting the edge direction of the multilevel image data MR by an edge direction detecting part 140. Multilevel image data HO of resolution 400dpi from the edge direction detecting part 140 is outputted from an image data output part 310 based on the edge direction detecting flag EF.</p> |
