PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small neon fluorescent lamp which operates in a cold environment, satisfies SAE color requirements, and generates both red and amber color with one lamp housing by specifying the constitution of a neon stop lamp. SOLUTION: A neon stop lamp 10 for a vehicle is assembled with a tubular envelope 12, a first electrode 14, a neon gas filler 22, a second electrode 24, and a phosphor film 26, and operated with a pulse generator 25. The tubular envelope 12 is a slender tube made of hard glass or quartz. The lamp 10 is operated with the pulse generator 25, and generates neon red or mixed color of the color of a phosphor and the color of neon. A red mode is formed by supplying either power of DC or AC of continuous wave. In order to activate the phosphor and form the specified color by mixing the radiation of neon and the phosphor, the power is switched to a pulse mode. |
