A liq. container(10) is connected to a vaporising chamber(8) in the top of a base(6) via a liq. lime(14). The latter can be closed by at least one valve(16). The iron has at least one safety switch(22), and a control unit(24) which enables a volume of liq. to be injected into the vaporising chamber when the energy supply to the base is turned off.
