摘要 PURPOSE: To activate a catalyst by surely generated after-combustion without requiring re-ignition, ans stably increasing exhaust gas temperature. CONSTITUTION: A second injection amount Ti2 which is ignitable by frame of main combustion due to first injection is set by means of a second injection amount setting part 62. An injection timing where the second fuel injection is surely ignited by the frame of the main combustion is set by means of a second injection timing setting part 63 based on an engine speed N and a reference fuel injection amount Tp, within a proper range that exhaust gas emssion and fuel consumption performance are not deteriorated. Namely, the fuel due to the second injection is not ignited by re-ignition as conventionally, but is ignited by frame propagation from the combusted portion. Accordingly, it is possible to dispense with repetition of ignition in one cycle, suppress consumption of ignition energy, and generate second combustion with certainty. In addition, smoke generation and HC increase are avoided, for stably increasing exhaust gas temperature, activating a catalyst, and suppressing deterioration of fuel consumption performance to minimum.
