CONSTITUTION: When a retrieval result is displayed by utilizing information stored in a key word attribute storage means 9 constituting a hierarchical key word dictionary for a key word of file retrieval, the file that the user desires, is displayed at the head of a list, and a key word in a low layer of key words is also displayed as a retrieval object. This hierarchical key word dictionary 2 has a hierarchical structure storage part 10 which stores the hierarchical structure of key words, too. Consequently, the user finds the desired file in the file list obtained as the retrieval result.
