Traversing low cost reliable sensor reacts well to moving textile yarn

A thread sensor (1) in a textile machine (30) is furnished with a sensing element (2) to detect a thread (16) fed through the machine where the sensing agent is a membrane (25). Also claimed is a process for the sensor operation where the mechanical sensing agent is displaced into a thread run so that the thread is moved from its normal to a deviated position where the thread vibration is transferred to the membrane and converted into electrical impulses for processing.
