Operating a papermaking drying section having two rows of drying cylinders, twin wires which provide closed draws, and guide rolls close to one wire while guiding the other wire, so that pockets needing ventilation are formed, involves pocket ventilation by blowing into it an air jet through the wire which is not carrying the paper. Pref. the jet is projected from a blow box with a nozzle slot at 90 deg. to the wire.
