A control and calculation unit (G) working from measured data is used and after calibration calculates the dose and controls the laser light flow in the fibres (C) in order to achieve a prescribed dose distribution. Where the treatment is photo-dynamic, tumour therapy using photo-sensitised substances and light measurement leads to calculation of the light doses. In the case of photo-thermic treatment, with tissue destruction through increased temp., the temp. field is calculated from the measured light flow through the tissue, after calibration. The spaced dose distribution is calculated from the measured transmission values between individual fibre pairs using tomographical methods. A computer display in near real time shows the actual calculated dose distribution and selected treatment dose distribution, against which the measurement and regulating system controls the ongoing treatment. |
