Method for continuous storing and bringing back items on conveyor system

The method involves the interruption of the flow by feeding the items on to a firs storage conveyor (1) which has independent but linkable storage levels. The speed and distance between items is reduced w.r.t. the main conveyor (3,4). A second similar storage conveyor (II) is then fed with items from the main conveyor in a similar manner. The goods are released on a first in-first out basis at increased speed back on to the main conveyor from the first storage conveyor at a stage when the second conveyor has fewer levels filled than the first. After the first conveyor is emptied, it is refilled during which time the second conveyor is emptied. This process is repeated until both storage conveyors are empty.
