SLIDING MEMBER AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PURPOSE: To produce a sliding member coated with a hard film excellent in both of wear resistance and toughness. CONSTITUTION: The outer circumferential face of a piston ring 1 is coated with a hard film 2. This hard film 2 has a compsn. composed of, by weight, 3 to 15% N and 0.5 to 5% C so as to regulate the total of N and C to <=16%, and the balance Mo and has a crystal structure of molybdenum nitride or a composite of molybdenum nitride and metallic molybdenum, and in which the grain size of molybdenum nitride and metallic molybdenum is respectively regulated to <1μm. The film hardness lies in the range of 2100 to 2600 of Vickers hardness.
