Air inlet valve for internal combustion engine

Air flowing into an internal combustion engine is controlled by an inlet valve sub-assembly contg. a throttle body (1) with a defined bore forming an inlet channel (6) for the engine. A throttle valve (2) is pivotable between an open position and a closed position and has a coating (4a) of a film contg. tetrafluoroethylene resin, which may be applied electrolessly. The throttle valve body and the valve are pref. of different metals, pref. respectively of Al and brass. The coating is applied to the area of the valve in contact with the internal surface of the bore when the valve is closed.
