COMPOSITION BASED ON ABRASIVE AND SURFACTANT SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition for cleaning the oral cavity, comprising an abrasive system containing an alkali metal bicarbonate(s) and a nonionic poly(hydroxypropyl ether) surfactant in an aqueous vehicle. SOLUTION: This composition contains (A) an abrasive system containing one or plural alkali metal bicarbonates, preferably sodium bicarbonate or potassium bicarbonate and (B) one or plural nonionic poly(hydroxypropyl diether) surfactants, preferably either one of (i) compounds of formula I and formula II (R1 is an alkyl mixture of C10 H21 and C12 H35 ) and (ii) compounds prepared by condensing 3.5 mol glycitol with a 12Cα-diol under alkali catalyst in an aqueous vehicle. The vehicle includes preferably a physiologically permissible vehicle containing at least 3 wt.% water based on total weight of the composition.
