PURPOSE: To eliminate the leakage of transfer charge and to eliminate transfer unevenness by bringing the non-image forming part of a transfer material into contact with a specified contact member at the time of transferring. CONSTITUTION: This device is constituted of a photoreceptor drum 1 capable of forming an electrostatic latent image, a developing device performing the superposed-development of two or more colors with electrostatically charged toner on the drum 1, and the transfer roller 5 for electrostatically transferring a toner image obtained by such development on the transfer material 6 altogether. The contact member 13 coming into contact with the non-image forming part of the transfer material 6 such as the paper at the time of transferring and being an insulating body having >=10<11>Ω.cm volume resistance value is arranged at a transfer part. The contact member 13 means all the members with which the paper 6 comes into contact from the time when the leading edge of the paper 6 advances in the roller 5 until the time when the trailing edge of the paper 6 goes through the roller 5. Thus, the leaked charge transmitted through the paper 6 is reduced and the transfer unevenness is eliminated. |
