The thermal insulation is used for enclosing the sides of the oven space and provided by several relatively spaced foil layers, joined together at defined points to form a cellular structure, with a number of air-filled pockets. At least one of the foil layers is provided with an air-tight sealed edge on all sides, acting as a flexible fixing and/or coupling element. Pref. the layers are provided by A1 foils, each layer comprising at least three foils, two of which act as cover layers (a,d) on either side of at least one central spacer foil (b,c) with a meandering configuration.
