<p>PURPOSE: To exactly estimate road shape by detecting the relative position of a reflector corresponding to driver's own vehicle and judging whether the reflector is positioned on the right side or left side of a road based on its horizontal displacement. CONSTITUTION: A radar head 1 receives a reflection wave of a radiated electromagnetic wave reflected on the obstacle. A radar signal processing part 2 calculates the distance to the obstacle and its direction based on propagation delay time from electromagnetic wave radiation to reflected wave reception. There radar head 1 and radar signal processing part 2 consist of a radar device. When any object in front of the vehicle is detected by the radar device, it is judged whether a delineator is set on the right side or left side of the road based on the horizontal displacement in the relative position of the delineator detected corresponding to the driving of the driver's own vehicle. Besides, the delineators judged to be on the right or left side of the road are respectively linked and its track is recognized as the right or left side so that the road shape can be estimated.</p> |
